Itec, Lexmark, HP release new printers

Three printer vendors have released new products to the market this week. Lexmark launched the X7170 All-in-One multi-function printer for the SME; HP the Business Inkjet 2800 series, available through Rectron; and Itec the colour laser magicolor 2400W.

Lexmark’s X7170 All-in-One offers a one-stop shop for easily faxing, scanning, printing and copying documents, and comes with Productivity Suite Software, which allows users to create multiple page PDFs from a variety of formats into a single document for storage and distribution, among other things.

The X7170 features the industry’s highest resolution flatbed scanner – 1200 x 4800 dots per inch (dpi) resolution – with 48-bit colour depth and CCD technology that can scan photos, reports and even three-dimensional objects.

HP’s Inkjet 2800 offers wide format, A3+ paper handling and features four separate printheads and print cartridges. With printing speeds of up to 24 ppm black (21 ppm colour) in "Draft" mode and 12.5 ppm black (12 ppm color) in "Fast Normal", the Inkjet 2800 enables companies to print frequently updated materials in-house and make changes at a moment’s notice, reducing outsourcing expenses, storage costs, and the waste of obsolete materials, according to Zandré Rudolph, HP business development manager at Rectron.

Itec’s latest offering incorporates new multi-pass technology, which improves print precision creating crisp, clear copy. The magicolor 2400W can produce five high quality colour prints and 20 monochrome prints per minute, utilising Konica Minolta’s polymer-toner technology to ensure that copy is evenly printed, with sharp lines and text in consistent colours. The print resolution can be set up to 2400 x 600 dpi, it has an internal memory of 32 Mb and an USB 2.0 (High-Speed) port. The magicolor 2400W retails for R2 795 (excluding VAT).
