Document Technology Company Itec SA and Tiyende Telecommunications have formed a joint venture, trading as Itec Telecoms to sell office telecommunication services to the corporate market.
Itec CEO Jacques Duyver says his company wants to expand its services into new sectors, and views telecommunication as a key area of growth as customers are demanding lower-cost telecommunications.
The company generated a turnover of R750m last year by selling digital copiers, multifunction printers, document-management systems and other office technologies. It claims to be the fastest growing office automation supplier in the country.
Tiyende is a black-empowered telecommunications service provider. Tiyende’s telecoms expertise, entrepreneurship and black empowerment credentials will complement Itec’s skills and products, Duyver says.
Itec: Telecoms directors will include Eddie Funde, chairman of the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
